Fairfax helps local Children's Burns Unit

When Fairfax Product Development Director Mark Love's 6 year old son Alex was rushed into Pinderfields Hospital Childrens Burns Unit after an unfortunate accident at home his parents Mark and Vicky feared for the worst.

However after weeks of first class help and treatment at the NHS hospital brave Alex had made a remarkable recovery and thoughts turned to how they could give something back to the staff for their unprecedented care and kindness.

Fairfax Plant Hire had already organised a charity golf day for customers and suppliers and it was decided to donate half of the procedes from the day to the My Burns Club a charity run by Tracy Foster and her dedicated helpers at the hospital.

Alex returned to Pinderfields recently, with mum Vicky and sister Martha there for moral support, to present a cheque for £1500.00 to Tracy and meet the staff who had helped during his stay in the unit.

The Fairfax team were shown around the facility and the only invitation Alex turned down was to see "his" old room.

Mum Vicky paid the following tribute "I will always be thankful for the support the staff at Pinderfields Childrens Burns Unit gave to our family during our stay in the unit. Although it was horrific for Alex and the rest of our family at the time we now have some fond memories of our time at Pinderfields all down to the great team of nurses and their excellent support staff."

" Tracy and The Burns Club provides vital help for children and young adults throughout Yorkshire to come to terms with life after suffering a burns injury and we will always be eternally grateful for their wonderful support ."
